The Farm
Nkwali is a 200 hectare lifestyle farm in the Mpumalanga highlands, situated on the very edge of the escarpment, where the highveld meets the lowveld. The land drops down in dramatic cliffs, giving sweeping views and an edge‐of‐the‐world feeling. The nature on the farm is natural and wild, with waving grasslands dotted with indigenous wild herbs, and mountain streams with natural pools and waterfalls.
Walking on Nkwali is really easy, with the main routes worn into gentle footpaths . From your lodge, you are just 50m from the nearest river, 5 minutes from a secluded waterfall and an easy 15 minute walk (or 5 minute drive) to the main river which runs through the
property. This river can be followed up or down to find more waterfalls and rapids and some excellent picnic spots.
There are 2 dams stocked with indigenous fish, yellowfish and various tilapia, which you can fish with barbless hooks on a catch and release basis (bring your own rods). They are also great to swim in (clean and warm), or to sit quietly beside. Most of all the farm is really quiet. The horizon is far, the sky is big, the stars are bright and the air is clean.
